    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had many responsabilities, the opportunity to work in an autonomous way, and was always really busy, having many things to do. I felt like I was an active part of the work and it is really satisfying. My manager and every employee were really nice to me as well, which is always good.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I always got really good feedbacks on my job, people who liked what I did came to me saying that they requested me to do something for them, so many responsabilities given by lot of different persons in the Sony group. I got help from every person I have met as well. They really made me feel valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager and supervisor, and every co worker that I have met helped me through advices, guidance, and support, whenever I needed it. I never felt like I was all alone. There is always someone available for helping you no matter how busy they are. They are here to make you feel supported, helped, and valued.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It really depends on the day. As a matter of fact, my job, on a daily basis is never the same. I can be quite busy some days and othercould be quiet bored. But you have to keep in mind that there is always something to do, no matter how busy you are, and you can always ask for having more work to do. If you are involved in what you do you will have a perfect balance.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Reponsabilities come gradually. At first you don't have many as your main job is to get up to speed on how the business works, who do which job, and everything. But gradually, you get more and more responsabilities, and at some point if you are good at what you do, you can deal with projects autonomously, which is amazing, and really helpful for your future carieer.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • the skills and trainings you get will really help you in your near future. you get to use many softwares you don't know, which are used by many companies, and using them on a daily basis is always good, as it makes you more valuable for others company, and definitely will help you get another job or intership. Acquiring skills is always a good thing, and I learned a lot working for Sony.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere of the office was really firendly. As you work in a team, you get to meet new people, and you get along with them. You can have breakfast and lunch together, and chat while working as we are all close to each other. Especially with the other interns, which you get to meet, we use to having drinks together, dinner, and see each other not only at work, but outide as well.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall placement is well organized, although they could help you get a housing here, as it is not always easy to find something especially if you live far away from where the placement takes place. Regardless of the housing, they organize spy days and trainings which are really helpful and fun, for you and every other interns. My last internship was not really nice, and this one is really the best I had.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I could not tell whether the company invested in me. They pay for spy day, and some trainings, so you feel like the company reallyu wants you to get the most out of your placement. To this extent, the company really do invest in us and it feels really nice to be considered as an intern and that feeling that the company cares about you gining skills is really amazing.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Working for Sony seems really appealing as a career. I don't want to work in Basingstoke though as I prefer Bigger cities, and basingstoke can be quite boring outside work, but a carreer at Sony PSE seems a great opportunity to discover the professional world, and get started with your "after degree" life. I would consider working for sony as a full time employee.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was an amazing social scene amongst the fellow interns doing a placement, as you meet them since day one, learn together. We have lunch together every day, do gifts on Birthdays, and have drinks and parties together. You meet great people, and spent a lot of time, at and outside work with them. This is my favourite part of the placement.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 525 for the housing, 3.6 for every meal in the company's canteen, an then you pay for your leisures every time you go out with your fellow interns, but the Sony salary is good enough to balance what you spend. If you don't waste all of your money you should get along just fine.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not much as basingstoke is not the best city on earth but with the others interns it was kinda nice to hang out and have house parties. the one club in basingstoke is good enough I guess, depends on what you are used to.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • yes, sports and nights out.
