The Role
It is a fun environment and the majority of people are great.
You have a lot of responsibility and definitely feel needed.
Training is fast phased and at times intense but quickly I became comfortable with everything. There is always someone willing to help.
Very busy. As long as you are organised (which comes with time) the day becomes a lot more manageable.
As a 180 consultant my main focus was candidates. I was working along side a managing consultant who was client focused and at times I covered their work too. You are given as much responsibility as a grad.
Although recruitment is not something I am passionate about I have come a long way since my 2nd year at university. I am much more confident, professional, knowledgeable and now know how to write a good CV and interview well.
The Company
Within my team it was great, everyone was really friendly and at times it was fun. This tends to change from team to team however the overall atmosphere was lively and competitive, as you would expect in a sales environment.
It was very structured and I never found myself not knowing what to do.
The beginning months are quite intense, as you find yourself learning a lot and adjusting to the professional world. It's definitely not for everyone however Hays definitely invest a lot in all interns. They have to as you so much responsibility.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Financially the prospects are great. If you work hard and do the job well it is likely you will be offered a fast track grad role.
The Culture
Yes there were over 10 interns who all joined together. At the start this is great as it breaks the ice quickly. As you join the teams after the first couple of weeks you are never left out.
In London it isn't cheap and as I commute around 3 hours a day, socialising outside of working hours isn't easy as I want to get home too. Nevertheless when something is organised it doesn't cost much more than £30 if anything at all.
Great, it's London!
With work yes plenty: Dodgeball, laser tag, hot wing challenge, drinks and meals out, Christmas and end of year party. Outside of work not really. I get home around 8pm which leaves me enough time to eat, relax for a bit and then sleep.
