The Role
It was mostly enjoyable. Company culture is amazing and you have a base on which you can build in terms of what you want do here. There were some administrative issues with our de jure employer, SRG, however those were eventually resolved after an influx of Placement students' feedback.
As mentioned previously, company culture is great. Placement students do not feel at any point undervalued by fellow full-time colleagues. You are relatively limited in the level of responsibility of the tasks you undertake, however that is expected considering the (sub)entry level you're at as a Placement student.
I had both a manager and a supervisor, who were extremely welcoming and helpful whenever an issue arose. There is a great opportunity for flexibility if the role you signed-up for turns out irrelevant to your course or you don't feel motivated by doing it. You only need to show initiative and ask around!!
It is on a person-to-person basis. If you show initiative and hunt for work to do, there's plenty to keep you occupied. If you sit back and keep your mouth shut, you're probably find yourself with plenty of spare time during work hours. Personally, my workload was varying, with weeks where I had only 60% of my day full of tasks and and weeks where I had to stay for 1-2 hours after work to finish up, as the period was busy.
There's only so much responsibility a Placement student can be given here I'm afraid.
My role is really different from what I'm studying so my answer would be n/a, however the soft skills I gained are invaluable. The mere experience of working in such a big company with lots of people helps a lot!
The Company
Atmosphere and culture is amazing. The office is open-plan so it's easy to communicate with your team. Everyone is more than happy to help out at any time.
Organisation was not on par, however I believe that is due to the fact that there was some miscommunication between my uni and my employer, so it may not apply to you.
There're great opportunities in terms of training, including ITMS, ERP Deployment training, a lot of employability sessions and free self-study courses online. You'll only get any paid training if it's relevant to your role though.

46% of Graduates come from Placement roles. However you have to go through almost the same process as people outside of the organisation, so the only real advantage you have is having worked there and knowing what they would be looking for in you in advance.
The Culture
Great social events, including a Student body to represent the Placement students. Regular non-alcoholic events and nights out. You will probably go out with your team on a social gathering every 1-3 months.
I was living in London, so that was expensive as you can imagine.
Only a couple of pubs around. London Central is 40 minutes away with the tube, though, so that was where my nightlife was.
Great opportunities for sports and volunteering
