  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I hugely enjoyed my placement year at GSK

    • Very valued, the data I produced during the year was of value to the team and so felt like I was really contributing something to the company and portfolio.

    • My supervisor was endlessly patient with me, always supporting me without being overbearing, and always there to help at any time.

    • Some weeks a lot busier than others but rarely stuck with nothing to do or over-loaded

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • After the first few months I was allowed a lot of freedom in the planning and execution of my experiments. I was responsible for developing an assay for the rest of the department.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I massively developed both my technical and transferable skills - experimental planning, calculations, data analysis, as well as having the opportunity to develop presentation and communication skills by presenting data at weekly team meetings
