The Role
On the whole I have enjoyed my placement. The only negative I feel is the repetition in some of the jobs I do, but I feel as if this comes with the title of being an intern.
On the whole I felt valued by those in the wider team and I feel as if I added value to the role throughout my placement.
I feel I was given a large amount of support. Those in my team were willing to coach me if there were things that I didn't understand and they were always willing to take time out of their day to help me improve.
Interestingly my role fluctuated a lot depending on external factors, sometimes I would be extremely busy and at other periods I would be less so. However, on the whole this is a very busy role and there is always something to do.
On occasions I was given great amounts of support- however this seemed to vary throughout.
I am now much more capable on a laptop for things like data analysis, report pulling, excel and my time management has definitely improved during this role.
The Company
There was a good and supportive atmosphere in my office and everyone was talkative and willing to help on another out.
I feel it was well organised, however I think perhaps the placement should have focused on development a little more and should have perhaps provided additional training for this.
I feel that apart from a careers workshop- this was an area that definitely could have been touched on more heavily.

I feel that the future prospects in this company are very appealing- I am definitely going to apply back as the grad scheme has good prospects.
The Culture
Among the IBM interns there is a good community due to the sheer amount of interns. I believe that this community is a very strong part of the role and is something that my friends from other companies have definitely missed out on while being on their internships.
Living in London is naturally very difficult- especially on an intern salary! It would be very hard to afford the cost of living without a student loan.
All in all the nightlife is good- lots of nice bars with deals on for IBM employees, due to the company being such a large business in the area.
I feel like there was a lack of opportunity to get involved in activities, while I was at IBM and this was not something that was publicized to me.
