The Role
I was lucky enough to work in a great team and able to enjoy all the work that I was doing. A large amount of project based work which I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in and collaborating with a wide range of people in varying roles. I really enjoyed the team environment and the work I was undertaking throughout the year, able to develop a variety of technical skills.
Since I was in a really supportive team, I was able to see the extent of the work I carry out and how it affects the business. Therefore I was able to see how much they valued my input and discuss other points of view with each other. Especially during project work, I was able to see how much staff valued my work and in turn see what impact I was having on the business on a whole
I was always open to asking questions, all staff are happy for you to answer questions to aid in your own development and broaden your knowledge base. There are training days across the year to help support and guide you through the development of your own skills. Also able to gain support through meetings every month to discuss projects and their progress.
Very busy! There is always something to do and a project to work on, and if there isn't you can ask for more work and it will come to you. My time with Eaton has also greatly improved my time and project management to ensure that I work effectively and efficiently to get as much work done possibly throughout the day.
Quite a lot, I was in charge of project that had an affect on production to increase the safety of the department. There is a lot of trust put in your to showcase your abilities and deliver a good end product at the end of it. support always available to help manage projects
From start to finish, there was a huge amount of development in order to learn how the industry operates and therefore a steep learning curve was required. In both professional and personal skills I developed huge amount, through everyday work and training days provided by the internship. I have also developed technical skills such as using CAD software and understanding electrical wiring diagrams
The Company
A very light hearted atmosphere, however at the same time professional as people get on with their work and are happy to help wherever possible. Everyone is always asking each other for help or advice so this created a really good supportive atmosphere in the office as well as a nice jovial atmosphere.
From the beginning of the placement I was able to know what was going on throughout the year, such as training. With a lot of my work being Ad Hoc, I had to adapt to different types of jobs and projects but overall it was an organised set up and support network.
As interns many different training days are held throughout the year. These are mainly for core skills such as project management, Presentation skills and communication, but there are also more software based training such as excel training. Throughout the year as well I have also used much more technical pieces of software such as VBA Programming in excel, Easy-PC PCB CAD software and Draftsight that I have had training in to become familiar with these

The Culture
During training days you are able to socialise with the other interns, however depending on site and number of interns per site you are able to socialise
Generally quite cheap, however does depend on where you are based
Not that great, however good train networks to cities and other student cities
Depending per site, social activities are occurring such as 5 a side football
