The Role
I really enjoyed the work I did on my placement. I felt that it was challenging to the extent I was performing tasks above my level. My colleagues also encouraged me to do challenging tasks because they felt I was capable and this made my experience more enjoyable.
I felt valued to some element through the use of a trophy which I was awarded, as well as thank you vouchers. My colleagues did make effort to compliment me and provide positive feedback.
Throughout most of my jobs, I was given the appropriate support and training. I had a Senior who would guide me throughout each task I was to perform and any follow up questions they would happily answer them.
Very busy, there was a lot of work to be completed which meant some times they were stressful.
I was given a lot of responsibility on my placement, from managing a whole project to being in charge of a few accounts. The responsibility varied depending on the team and the project we were allocated to.
Being able to study and work at the same time is a hard task, especially given the nature of the work and exams. Multi tasking this, as well as multiple jobs has really improved my ability to perform several tasks at the same time.
The Company
The general atmosphere is that people stick to themselves unless you are working and sitting with your team.
The work placement was very well set up, there was clear indication of who to report to, the training was sufficient and we were allocated to different projects. There were a few minor flaws when it came back to review processes and appraisal but that has been flagged to correct for the future.
The firm invested in the first 2 ICAEW exams for us to take. They also provided us audit training and training on EY's tools and software. The firm invest in the industry applicable skills and I felt it was up to you to decide whether you wished to develop your personal skills.

They are very appealing. The people at EY are something which sways me to come back because they are lovely and great.
The Culture
It was nice to do the placement with people the same age and this was beneficial as we all had the same experience and understanding therefore we were on the placement together and could turn to each other for advice.
London is very expense and socialising is expensive too but the salary covers it.
Night life in London is great, with lots of clubs and bars available.
There are plenty of sports clubs, charity work and socials to get involved with. This was a nice break from work and a great way to network.
