The Role
I felt like I learnt a lot on my placement and i enjoyed finally being able to put my university knowledge to use. Admittedly, the first few months I did not enjoy as a lot of the time there was not much for me to do but once I got involved in a project I was able to do valuable work
I felt my work was really appreciated as some of the work I have produced has been considered for using in other projects
There was always support for me there when needed. Whenever there was an issue with a particular part of my work, I was always able to ask for assistance and receive the help I needed
As mentioned before, the first few months were rather tedious as there was not much for me to do, however, once I was involved in a project I was given a lot of work and was able to produce real products
I feel like I was given a lot of responsibility. I essentially did the whole Software development of a product on my own (of course, with some assistance)
As the work I did over my placement was very technical I feel like I will be able to apply my skills to both uni and any other industry involved with engineering
The Company
Everyone is really friendly. There is a very positive atmosphere and everyone is really approachable.
In all honesty i'm not entirely sure because I don't know how its supposed to be. For example, I've heard that some placements already have something set up for the interns so that they're ready to start work from day 1. I felt like when i joined everyone did their own thing and i just had to go around asking if they needed help with something.
There was a lot of training days where all the interns from all the sites would get together and undertake group tasks. This also included a seminar where we were taught things such as time management and making presentations
