The Role
Fantastic year. Saw the whole farm to folk process. A good amount of variety and difference expereiences. Nice to have contributed and done an actual job rather than just shadowed for a year.
I felt like I was part of the team from the very start which was very helpful to settling in quickly, There is the team in the office and the wider supply chain team, both of which were very supportive and inclusive.
A good balance of support and being given to responsibility to get on with things yourself. No hand holding, but help is at hand if you ask for it. Was made to feel at ease about asking for help.
Work load did vary but there was never a time that I had nothing to do. When I asked for extra things there was always a job waiting.
Was given my own project to manage and was required to contribute to a number of other projects.
Invaluable skills. Gained interview and appliation skills from the very start. I've learnt how a successful business runs, been kept up to date about movements within the industry and how we adapt. There are placement days throughout the year which help to develop cv writing skills, linked in profile, interview skills etc.
The Company
Lovely office to work in - very relaxed. Everyone got on and would often get breakfast and lunch together.
I was the third placement student so the program was well up to speed by the time I did it. It wasn't scripted which suited me as there were often events that I were of interest of me and I only had to ask to go along if I was already invited to attend. A fairly fluid year so it was up to me sometimes to ask to go to things but even if I didn't do this I still would have been exposed to a vast array of things.
I was out and about an awful lot which for me was the best way to learn, rather than doing lots of courses it was great to things actual done in the flesh. All my expenses were paid which was great.

Working from home
I would love to work for this organisation but for what I want to do there probably isn't a role that suits my needs. Having done a placement year though it is easier to get on the graduate scheme if this is something that appeals.
The Culture
All the placement students got on brilliantly. There are also a huge amount of subsidised clubs and societies that can be joined which gives a huge amount of opportunity to try something new or keep up a hobby that you might not have continued to do if it was too expensive.
The canteen was very fairly priced with subsidised food. When we had team days etc these were also minimally priced.
This isn't really applicable. There were often times where we needed to stay over night with colleagues. These were always good fun social occasions.
Yes definitely - so many clubs and societies that are really well used.
