The Role
I had a great time and was given so much experience and flexibility within my role. I got a good aspect of different areas of the business as well.
Everyone who I have worked with has been very supportive and encouraging during projects and events I was involved with. Receiving awards whilst on placement also gives a great sense so support and makes you feel valued in your job
I always had full support not only from my manager and supervisors but from factory workers and different departments within the business
The rate of work flow varied a lot from a day to day basis. Some days were very busy with lost of samples to make up and send off for meetings whether in the UK or Abroad. Where as some days there was nothing immediate to do which leaves a good opportunity to catch up on paperwork and research. Pretty well balanced.
I was given my own projects to work on as well as being allowed to individuals complete paperwork, nutritionals, shelf life testing, arrange meetings for project progressions and attend trials.
The skills I have developed will be of great assistance in my degree and beyond. I have a deeper knowledge of how the food industry works, and have met a huge variety of people from different levels and departments of the company. My knowledge of the products made at the three different Muller sites has grown thanks to support of colleagues and training days.
The Company
Everyone in the office were easy to get on with and there was always a positive attitude during the working day. When working there was a good level of concentration.
The placement was well organised with events, training days and site tours across the three sites being set up so that we got a better aspect of the whole business. These were very useful in deepening my knowledge and gaining more experience.
There was always some training days being held for both the site I was working on (desserts) as well as in the other sites on yogurt. This meant my placement was not fully based on one topic of production but meant that I was coming away with an experience of how all three sites work and the products that they produce. If there is anything else you wish to know more about whether in your department or another the company is more than helpful in making sure you get the most out of your time there.

I would defiantly consider coming back and working for Muller again as my time here has been amazing and it is a great business to work for.
The Culture
There was a good social scene across all three sites, which most of the placement students and a lot of the younger people from marketing living in Shrewsbury it meant that there was almost always something going on every weekend. Shrewsbury was a great place to live with lost of places to go out to eat and drink.
The cost of living is about average for what you would expect for the area you live in (cheaper than a city) and socialising cost varied depending what do but I wouldn't say it was ridiculously expensive.
Considering the size of Shrewsbury, the nightlife beat expectations. There is many bars, cocktail bars and a few clubs which always get busy and are very good for the younger crowd. With so many different places to go and try the nightlife here is great.
Lots of opportunities with events over the weekend, organised walks, meals out, nights out, etc. Anyone is welcome and many people always get involved.
