The Role
JLR is an excellent company to work for, They treat employees extremely well through perks like the employee learning schemes and activity days. Personally I felt Trading Division was quite disconnected from the main sites so I often felt like I was missing out a little. My day to day work does not fill me with excitement but there are definitely elements I enjoy.
My entire division was always very stretched. However they always had time to speak to me when I needed anything from them. Even through things like tours of the factories and general questions about careers -colleagues would always try to make time for you. My line manager was always extremely busy, however we always had time for our weekly 1-2-1, which I really appreciated.
Personally, my line manager was always there to answer questions and always made time for our weekly 1-2-1, no matter what her schedule was. I was regularly given advice and put forward for things that would help advance me faster as well as building skills. The reason I don't give this 10 stars is because senior management have absolutely no time for anyone (let alone an undergraduate). I only ever got to speak to my senior manager on 2 occasions.
Varied a lot over the year. It definitely ramped up throughout the year and towards the end I started to feel fairly stressed. I seemed to completely absorb a colleague who left's job role for a couple of months but we somehow made that work.
I was extremely surprised at how much responsibility I was given. Right from the start I was hosting meetings with people much more senior than me (internal and external). I was also managing invoices worth more than my salary on a daily basis right from the get-go.
The placement will not help theory-wise with my degree. However, I have certainly built up a good work ethic. At university, I would struggle to make my 9am's, but at JLR I am up at 6am and in the office for 7:15am. I hope I can continue this into my final year.
The Company
Quiet other than Mondays. I liked my team very much but everyone is very work oriented, There is a spirit of just wanting to get on with work all the time. I feel like if I had been based at one of the main sites, it might have been a bit more interesting.
JLR took on a lot of undergrads. The scheme was all very well planned out both at a macro level (undergraduate conferences across the year) but also within my division where we had designated "undergraduate reps" who would always look after us and organise trips for us,
Massively. 1) JLR encourages you to go on a lot of training. Personally I went on over 10 days worth across the year. 2) The employee learning scheme meant that I got a free £250 driving day where we got to go down to Gloucester and do a track day. 3) We went on many visits to different parts of the business to try and get an idea of how it works as a whole.

I will most likely be coming back.
The Culture
I have made some very good friends this year. However outside of work, there was very little social scene. Again, this is most likely because Trading Division is slightly detached from the other parts of the business.
The Midlands are fairly cheap. If you live in Leamington it might be a bit more expensive.
Never got to try it sadly. We were based at Warwick uni campus so I'd assume it's fairly good. The pubs were also fairly decent.
There were two CSR events were we volunteered in the local community whilst I was on placement. I didn't get a place on the Jaguar Landrover Challenge but that looked absolutely awesome.
