The Role
I greatly enjoyed every moment of my placement, this has proven to be a great chance to develop my skills and knowledge. I highly recommend this to anyone as it can also be a great chance for one to show themselves that by facing these challenges one can become a better version of themselves.
My colleagues did not treat me like a student, on the contrary I was treated like an engineer. This is what I have liked about my placement the most as it enabled me to embrace greater challenges and responsibilities.
My supervisor was extremely helpful and during my placement there I have encountered many difficulties but none of which I could not solve through teamwork. This is one of the main principles I have had the pleasure to learn from my supervisor.
I was extremely busy every day of my placement, in fact I have written a diary which I was updating daily and this shows how much there was to learn every day. My great responsibility presented me great challenges every day which I was very enthusiastic about.
During my placement I have been great responsibility. I was in charge of 1/4 - 3/4 Million Pound engines and my role was to ensure the correct build of these. Furthermore, I was the first point of contact in case of an issue arising which I solved through great teamwork with the other relevant departments.
The most important skills I have gained during my placement are organisational skills and project management. I believe these skills will enable me to not only organise myself much better between lectures and group projects at university but also to design effective plans to tackle bigger projects in my future role of a Mechanical Engineer.
The Company
The office atmosphere was great! My colleagues have great sense of humour and there has never been a day when I did not go home without having had a good laugh.
The placement was fairly well organised however there is room for improvement in terms of workstation set up as well as accessibility.
I feel like the company has invested in me a great amount as not only I have been trained to develop myself to fit the role but the company also offered great support in further development through numerous activities one of which were online training packages on a vast number of topics.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop

I am pleased with this company and would be very happy to join Cummins in the future.
The Culture
I feel like there should have been more social events to be organised by the company to ensure the social interaction of the placement students.
Daventry is a rather expensive area to live in, £500/month is the standard rent around this area.
The nightlife in Daventry is not great however there are other great cities such as Rugby and Northampton nearby which are great fun.
EEEC is community work which is voluntary work and it is a great opportunity to give something back to the community by painting for local schools or gardening etc.
