The Role
My placement started off very well, I had the opportunity to develop as a intern. this opportunity was given to me by my line managers Sam Mudge and Ben Rooke, they always encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone which stimulated my development even further.
From the beginning of my placement year I was not treated like an intern, I was treated like a normal respected employee who was viewed as a valued member of the team. This helped me settle into my role and made me feel a lot more comfortable during my placement year. Not once was I patronised by my fellow colleagues which I really appreciated considering the age differences.
Without a doubt Sam has definitely influenced me the most during my placement year, he has managed to find the right balance between keeping our relationship professional but also very open. I have always had the chance to speak to him regarding any of my issues or concerns. Having Sam as my line manager has been an absolute pleasure and I’m glad that my replacement will have someone like him to guide her and help her develop into an employable graduate prospect.
On a daily basis time flew by every single time, which meant that I was always occupied which I enjoy. On a day to day basis I would assist the Product Management and Marketing team with financial reporting or creating and circulating Product Change Notices.
During my placement I was given a lot responsibility, I had the job of managing a $32,000 to actively communicate and acquire marketing collateral for the new European Wholesale channel worth $200,000,000. This meant that I was in charge of choosing suitable suppliers, articulating a brief managing a budget and delivering projects on time.
I attended the second excel training which was set at the Intermediate level; this involved a lot more foreign concepts and ideas. It was a good learning curve and it has definitely improved my excel skills, which will hopefully help boost my performance whilst using excel. I also managed to learn how to run financial reports using the Business Warehouse Analyzer software. Additionally I attended product management, presentation technique and time management training
The Company
the atmosphere in the office is very relaxed and welcoming, absolutely nothing to be scared of
The internship had a clear structure which was followed throughout the year
The company invested in all of the interns as we had regular training sessions.
The future employment prospects within the organisations, are not very clear so it makes it very hard to thoroughly answer this question. Unfortunately there is not a graduate scheme that I am aware of.
