The Role
I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to.
I felt valued to a certain extent, and liked helping them out when they needed my assistance.
When ever I would ask for help or guidance they would give me support.
At the beginning of the placement year I hardly done much because of a project that we were due to start on falling through. When I got moved to another site I was given a bit more work to do but even then there were days that I hardly had anything to do. Now that I'm coming to the end of the placement year I've been given a bit more work and responsibility which I prefer.
Towards the end, I have been given more responsibility. However I did want to take over a package, like promised, but never actually got shown how to handle packages properly.
I think my experience will assist me greatly in my degree studies because I have been able to see the project happen before my eyes and have been given the opportunity to interact with all the people involved in the project. I have also been given the chance to attend presentations and workshops held by other companies which I found thoroughly interesting which gave me a wider insight to the construction industry.
The Company
The general atmosphere was great in the office and everyone was very friendly.
I think if I had been put on the project that I have finished my placement year on first it would of been a more organised placement. However, I waited around for a month or so to be put onto a live project.
The company provided many opportunities for training and development which were all very satisfying.
Above 25 days holiday
Having worked alongside graduates on the graduate programme, they have all been happy with their experiences which makes it more appealing for me to come back to the organisation in the future.
