    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at JLL, where I spent 12 months. JLL are a great company to work for and made for a very worthwhile year.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • JLL has a very friendly culture which is apparent from the very start. I was always valued and respected by my colleagues, despite being the least experienced within the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • During my time at JLL, whenever I required support and guidance, it was always forthcoming. No question is never a stupid one and management / supervisors appreciate you are trying to learn and gain as much from the year as possible.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy most days during my year long placement at JLL, of which I am pleased about as it is the best way to be. It was always a manageable level of 'busy' which was important but it enabled me to gain as much out of the year as I could.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • JLL is very supporting of graduates and placement students and is keen to ensure you are exposed to as much as possible. JLL wanted us to feel valued and gain as much as we could from the year and provided a very good level of responsibility to me to ensure this was the case.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have gained a lot of new skills from working at JLL, which I believe will assist greatly when returning to University to continue my degree. In particular, I expect my writing and analytical skills to have improved when I return to University, as well as work ethic and overall professionalism.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere is always upbeat and positive within the JLL office. There was often events / activities organised within the building which improves the atmosphere on a day to day basis, whether it is a cake sale or a presentation / show case of some sort. Collaboration is highly encouraged within JLL and the office is designed with this in mind with collaboration spaces. Overall, the environment within the office is great and a pleasant place to be.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • JLL invested a lot into our personal training and development. We were often enrolled on training courses to assist with our personal development, as well as arranging many internal, as well as external, presentations and CPD to ensure we learnt as much as possible during our time.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • JLL are keen for recruiting placement students and interns following their stint within the company. I would like to think the opportunity exists to come back as a graduate but it not yet known whether this is the case.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a very good social scene amongst the fellow placement students as well as colleagues. In terms of placement students, we were involved in the graduate induction week, enabling us to interact and get to know the large graduate constituency which joined a couple of months into our time at JLL. Social events with colleagues as well as other graduates within the industry was a regular occurrence.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was based in the West End office, which naturally brings both high living and socializing costs. However, the placement wage is typically higher than average to reflect this. It is a great area to work and live and therefore well worth with additional cost.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Being in the West End, the nighliffe is endless, with hundreds of bars, restaurants, theatres... something for everyone.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work, whether it is within London in general or with colleagues. JLL has many sports teams and clubs to get involved with out of work ours.
