The Role
I loved it, I am so glad I worked for BSH. Don't get me wrong- to begin with I found it very hard adjusting to the long commuting hours and long days- but with the help of my team I settled in much quicker than I though!
One of my main worries was not fitting in with the team or finding it hard to communicate with those of a higher level than myself. I can honestly say I did not have to worry one bit- everyone has made me feel more than welcome. I have not only made professional relationships but I have definitely made friends for life!
My job role was very different to what I thought it would be. My manager was aware of this- and helped me to engage more in my work and set other challenges for me. My manager also arranged for me to attend days/weeks in other areas of the business to help extend my knowledge of the business and get a broader understanding of what other areas do. I feel my self-development was their top priority and they definitely proved this to me!
My job was quite repetitivee- which meant it was hard to stay engaged at all times. I constantly had work to do- but it was a bit too monotonous for me.
During my placement I feel I was trusted to look after a product category straight from the off. Working in Supply Chain meant I had to hit deadlines and ensure my work was completed correctly- so I feel grateful they gave me this responsibility. I also had the opportunity to take on a larger category for 6 months- which doubled my workload. Here I was kept a lot busier- and I really enjoyed working at such a fast pace.
I feel these 12 months has shaped me as an individual. Not only have I had the experience working for a global company, I have gained skills which will stay with me forever. I feel I will prioritize and manage my work load better at University, be more motivated to achieve great results and not be afraid to make new friends with people of a different background/ hierarchical level to me,
The Company
Happy. There was never a dull moment in our office- and it was great that we shared the office with 2 more departments. This way we were able to mix and network with other employees of different areas, understand what they do and make new friendships.
From Day 1 until now we were never forgotten about. There was always jobs and tasks to be done, people to meet and skills to develop. It was set up very well and everyone made sure to reaffirm us that we had made the right decision joining BSH.
The company invested heavily in our training and development. Any opportunity to extend my knowledge, my manager would sign me up for. I have been on intern training days, visited our London showrooms, attended conferences in London and even had the opportunity to travel to Germany to our factories!!

Very appealing. There are so many different jobs and opportunities at BSH, not only in the UK but abroad. The way I have been treated and respected as an employee at the company, I would not hesitate to return. BSH are focused on improving and developing every single of their employees-and it is great having that support in an organization.
The Culture
Yes! All the interns had a very close friendship, especially because of the intern houses which are based 10 minutes from work. There was always social events, intern days and lots of opportunities to meet in and outside of work. It was also great to meet International employees, to not only make friends but learn more about their culture and how BSH operates in their country.
I commuted from home so I did not have to pay for living costs. It depended where you went out, some clubs/bars are relatively cheap but others were a bit more pricey.
It is only a 10 minute drive away into the centre, where there are great clubs and bars! London is also a 40 minute train journey away also :)
Yes- there were fitness classes on a Monday and Tuesday. There were also lots of training events outside of work which was great to get involved in. Maybe more sport/ teams would have been good!
