The Role
Overall I've really enjoyed my placement, it's given me some real management insight into how such a big company operates on such a grand scale. There were some parts I struggled with but I worked with a fantastic team and loved it all the same. Overall its a very happy and hard working company
Extremely; in each different department I worked in I was always made to feel useful and was always appreciated for my hard work. With the placement being rotational, you meet so many different people who vary hugely, but everyone at Lidl appreciates the hard work that is put in by each employee everyday so much.
My supervisor was amazing, she always ensured that each person training me was training me fully and ensured that I was OK on a regular basis. I felt as though my manager really took me under her wing, and treated me with so much respect, as both an adult and a colleague, not just an intern.
Very, but the environment you work in is so supportive that I felt I was constantly developing and learning new things but not burning out.
I was given several projects by my management and was given a huge amount of responsibility within my region. It was fantastic!
It's taught me a huge amount about myself and my time management. I feel like I've grown a huge amount over the year and the experience has been invaluable. I would recommend the placement scheme to anyone!
The Company
The atmosphere was a supportive, fun and enjoyable one. If I was ever struggling I was reassured that I had the capability and drive to succeed. Everyone is so appreciative of the work that you do and have a high level of mutual respect across all levels of the business.
Everything was really well organised. Prior to my placement I was provided with a full training plan for the whole year which included location, contact numbers of my various different managers and dates for the different rotations. It was well structured and I could always ensure that I would know what was to come over the weeks I had ahead of me.
They put a lot of time into my training, having assigned different managers to each part of my training who took a lot of time out of their day to ensure I was being fully trained on some of the key areas in the business. They not only invested a huge amount of money in the projects I completed but they're exposed me to so many people within the business and helped me excel throughout placement.

I would love to go back to Lidl, their employees and managers are so motivated and ensure that you excel in every area. The opportunites they provided me have given me a huge amount of skills and I would love to grow with Lidl even more than I already have.
The Culture
There wasn't a huge amount of socialising between the various placement students as we are based all over the country. However we were brought down for 3 national meetings where we were able to talk about our various experiences. It really has been a fantastic overall experience and I think the other students would agree.
I was based in the North of England, which in comparison to some of the more southern regions, it was much cheaper. However I was based a fair distance away from my friends, but then again I did have access to a car so this wasn't really a problem overall.
This wasn't really a concern for me, even though I like the night life, I really had no interest in going out often. I enjoyed my job and relaxing far too much for it to concern me. Others in my area stated that they really enjoyed it and it wasn't a bad experience overall
Not particularly, I think however this was due to my lack of knowledge of the area I was working in. Often I kept myself to myself in terms of doing activities outside of work as I often went south to see friends. However other people did do this outside of work and really enjoyed it.
