    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whilst an instant message service allowed for quick communication the team I worked with was spread out, meaning that there were very few members who I saw face to face on a regular base.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was a solid base of work which allowed for a dictated schedule, however at the same time there were many ad hoc items which added to the workload.

  • As I progressed through the year additional tasks were included within the scope of the role.

    The Company

  • I was given access to various events, allowing for me to meet people in various careers which allowed for me to determine how I wished to further progress my own career. On top of this I was introduced to a wide range of act ivies, many of which helped to develop key skills.

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were roughly 20 to 30 interns forming a central social group with the Portsmouth location. Interns would regularly meet up outside of work.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living was no more than I had encountered whilst being at university and due to the high student population in Portsmouth the social scene was also similar to that which I had encountered at university.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There were several venues however outside of university semesters the venues tend to be empty in comparison to how they are whilst students are living in Portsmouth.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • IBM encourages that its interns are involved in opportunities from outside of work in its "Giveback Scheme". It allows for interns to be involved in activities such as helping local schools with running interview days for students.
