    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my time at JLR. Its so exciting to be a part of an ever expanding UK company which is is going through such a massive change. The personal development is great, I have been able to do shadow days with loads of departments to understand how my day to day job ties into the greater company.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Having the chance to use personal skills you might not have necessarily known you have is amazing. Since starting within the team I have taken on so much responsibility, to the point I now chair my own meetings, lead projects and have made real changes within my team. I have been encouraged to challenge everything and ask questions and where possible give suggestions on new process changes.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager has been a great support throughout the year. She and the rest of the team have provided support and constructive criticism with everything I do.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For the first 3 months things were quiet and at times boring, but as time goes on the more confident and competent you become, the more responsibility you gain. On top of my everyday work, I have a number of side projects and key tasks that keep me busy. There's always something else to get involved with and keep you occupied.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have been given so much responsibility within my placement, I run my own car line, while managing multiple projects and doing shadow days. You are treated just like everyone else in the office, you have the same work load (if not more), and the same responsibility, and even more chance for development.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Before placement I could barley use Excel, and have now become the office go to on anything Excel. I have learnt presentation skills, management skills and even methods for improved communication. While not a lot of my degree came in hand for this placement, so much that I have learnt on placement will come in handy at University.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone has a great laugh, most people I have met have been really great to work with and I cant wait to come back.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Our year was hit by a few issues that as far as I am aware of have been ironed out for the future years. Don't be surprised if on arrival, your laptop and system access is not yet set up for you.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is such a massive opportunity to gain personal skills and professional qualifications. On top of hundreds of free courses from management to excel and communication, they proved £200 a year for the employee learning scheme, (a chance for you to learn pretty much anything) I learnt how to skydive.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Company Car

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have now been asked to rejoin the company after University, which i full intended to do.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Made some serious friends with the other undergrads. We have been away together a number of times, go out regularly and meet for lunch daily. Wouldn't have been the same without them.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Rent and general living costs are fairly average. cheaper than many surrounding areas.

    4/5

  • Birmingham, Coventry and Leamington Spa all within a stones throw.

    5/5
