The Role
Due to having a first rate manager I was given a lot of responsibility, I was challenged and given a lot of great opportunities - fantastic internship - would recommend to anyone!
I felt extremely valued by those I worked with - was not seen as an intern at all but as a valued member of the team.
Even though I was pushed and encouraged to think for myself and be confident, whatever challenge I embarked upon I always had my manager and HR behind me for support and advice when I needed it.
This fluctuated depending on what was going on within my sector. For the majority of the time I was either very busy, which I don't mind, or I had a perfect balance - there were only a few instances during the year where I had to ask for work.
I had a great deal of responsibility from the beginning including running my own projects and events.
From a good work ethic to being more confident and learning new skills, I have learnt alot from my placement. I am currently basing my dissertation on a certain aspect of the company - with which I received a lot of help on from my colleagues and therefore has been and will be helping me a great deal with my future studies and beyond.
The Company
Even though the majority of people I worked with were a lot older there was a great sense of community within the office that I worked in. I looked forward to going to work and I'm now very close friends with a large number of my colleagues.
There was no proper outline as to what our job would entail before we started; however I was lucky in that my manager would throw me at every opportunity that came her way and therefore I got all the experience and responsibility I could have wanted.
There was not a wide variety of specific intern training and development but the opportunities were there if you were wanting to go on certain training courses to help you improve on a certain aspect of your job. For example I went on a course to improve a certain technical aspect of my job which helped me a great deal.

Very appealing because of the people I already know who will still be there, the starting salary is great and there seems to be a lot more training and development on the graduate scheme. Currently waiting to hear back if I have a job with them.
The Culture
Unfortunately I was located away from the other interns so I did not have a social scene with them; however, I had a fantastic social life with the graduates that started at my office 2 months after me and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with them.
I was based in central London where nothing is cheap! However, there are a lot of ways to get around it, especially with the popularity of voucher codes etc. During my time in London I hardly ever paid full price for a meal - there was no need to.
I was in central London...all you could ask for!
Poorly advertised sports teams in my office - only found out about them nearing the end of my internship; however, the majority of the other male interns were involved in company sports teams.
