The Role
I would give my year 10/10. Such a great friendly culture at TJX, made lots of friends and learnt so much about working in a business.
Again the culture means that your team becomes your family. And you are treated as an equal employee, so your work is valued.
I was very lucky and all my managers have been very supportive. If I ever felt I was struggling I was able to talk to them, there is a great supportive network.
This depends very much on day to day and in what role. In the placement you work in both merchandising, buying admin and buying. Each function has different work loads. 80% of the time I would say I was busy however on slow days it was up to me to sort my own work for myself.
You are put in charge of your own little area, which is really rewarding as you can clearly see your impact of your own efforts.
The training and skills will be very much useful for when I fully enter the world of work. Throughout my year we had training on practical working skills eg time management, working with different cultures which will be very useful.
The Company
Hardworking however it was rewarded, with fun parties and various random games company wide. Definitely a great vibe in the office.
Initially when I started there was a clear routine for all the placements but as we moved functions the routine broke down. However it wasn't a huge problem just left in the dark for a while.
Relating to my earlier comments, we were given training sessions almost once a month which felt really encouraging.
