    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I would give my year 10/10. Such a great friendly culture at TJX, made lots of friends and learnt so much about working in a business.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Again the culture means that your team becomes your family. And you are treated as an equal employee, so your work is valued.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was very lucky and all my managers have been very supportive. If I ever felt I was struggling I was able to talk to them, there is a great supportive network.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This depends very much on day to day and in what role. In the placement you work in both merchandising, buying admin and buying. Each function has different work loads. 80% of the time I would say I was busy however on slow days it was up to me to sort my own work for myself.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You are put in charge of your own little area, which is really rewarding as you can clearly see your impact of your own efforts.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training and skills will be very much useful for when I fully enter the world of work. Throughout my year we had training on practical working skills eg time management, working with different cultures which will be very useful.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Hardworking however it was rewarded, with fun parties and various random games company wide. Definitely a great vibe in the office.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Initially when I started there was a clear routine for all the placements but as we moved functions the routine broke down. However it wasn't a huge problem just left in the dark for a while.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Relating to my earlier comments, we were given training sessions almost once a month which felt really encouraging.
