The Role
Very enjoyable internship
You are treated as a peer and you are not looked down on
Whenever I needed any support it was given
There is always a lot of work to do, I was never bored
A lot of responsibility, more than I ever though an intern would be given
Received training throughout the year.
The Company
I was based in the R&D office. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly
The whole year was extremely well planned and organised. Training was given regularly and during the first month of the internship I was given a lot of organised help.
There are 6 training events run by external company throughout the year focusing on personal development (Project management, Presentation skills, Time Planning skills... ect.) they were very informative and professional.
National Travel
There is no direct line from the internship to the graduate scheme. However, you meet the leader of the graduate scheme during the year and there is a much higher probability that you will get a place on the graduate scheme if you have completed an internship successfully.
The Culture
There are 30 interns based all over the country. I was at a site with 3 other interns. There were pub trips with colleagues and nights out with interns. I socialized with the interns at work and outside of work. We played 5 aside football twice a week.
I was based at a site in Sutton and Ashfield. I lived in Mansfield which was very cheap to live in.
Not great, Mansfield has no university. But we went on nights out to Nottingham which has a great nightlife. The downside being you have to get a coach back to Mansfield at 3 o'clock in the morning. You win some you loose some!
5 aside football twice a week. I joined a tennis club. And some of the other interns went on organised runs and bike rides every week.
