The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Hays and feel in 12 months, you can learn a lot and pick up lots of different new skills and experiences. I feel it is a great placement if you like targets and that fast-paced environment. You can really pick up useful skills such as time management and presentation skills.
I felt valued most of the time by my team members, sometimes it could be a little annoying carrying out tedious tasks such as administration tasks that members are equally obliged to do but will pass on to myself as I'm an 'intern'.
Our monthly reviews helped us with support and any queries or questions we had throughout the placement. It was very useful to have a monthly MSP and weekly targets as it allowed you to measure your success and overcome any struggles.
Varied- I always had something to do and if you've planned your day right- then you could fill in the hours. However, day plans don't really work in this job as the phone will always be ringing! Clients and candidates time comes first before your own and therefore our KPI's are sometimes unrealistic to achieve so I felt sometimes people would just log stuff for the sake of logging and organisational activity.
I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my time at Hays depending on what my strengths were. However sometimes it did feel like- if we were expected to do the same amount of work as other Consultants then surely the pay should be the same?
12 week initial training plan which was excellent and helped you to gain information and learn both the candidate and client strategy and market. The training at Hays is probably the best part of the Recruitment agency, they do train you well. You do a lot in your first couple of weeks including both internal and external training and classroom training.
The Company
Really good. People are constantly on the phones, or typing on their keyboards. Excellent atmosphere especially on Blitz days!
Really organised and the training plan was excellent. You can tell a lot of effort goes into setting up the placement and looking after the 'interns' in the first couple of weeks. Maybe some feedback from the interns itself towards the negatives might help it easier to recruit the next students for the following placement year.
I imagine quite a lot of time and money went into the personal training and development.

I reckon if you wanted to come back following a placement you can. It's very open as it is Recruitment and they have already invested time and money into training you. I think the turnover is unquestionable so they definitely would not say no if you reapplied again.
The Culture
I think there was a good social scene towards the start especially, but I feel that Hays could have integrated us a bit more especially with the other London offices, for example we had one intern conference day. I feel if there were more social activities on the cards, we would all definitely have a more positive outlook on the placement.
Loved London! Always vibrant and something to do just very expensive to live. Placement does not pay that well so you literally have to live like a student despite working over 42 hours a week!
Superb! Loved it- escape from the hard-cold calling atmosphere of the office. Really good atmosphere especially on Thursday and Friday night after work.
None existent which I think didn't help the integration of all of us interns. It was very poor social engagement.
