The Role
I enjoyed learning about the role and the company, I also liked the culture and people I work with. I found the placement challenging as now I have the experience within this type of job I just don't think sales roles are for me.
I feel like I fit in really well with my team and they truly enjoyed having me join them throughout my placement. I felt very welcomed and will keep in contact with some of them.
My manager and other colleagues were always very happy to help me if I needed it, and I felt the training at Hays was really good.
Although recruitment roles are typically quite busy and there is always something you can do but I felt that my role wasn't very varied which would sometimes make lead to me being bored.
Throughout my placement I don't think I was given a particularly large amount of responsibility. I stayed on a 180 desk so had no responsibility on the client side, however working with candidates does still give you some responsibility. I also didn't feel micro-managed, which was good, as I had a lot of independence in reaching targets etc.
I definitely think the skilled I have learnt will be useful in terms of being very knowledgeable in the recruitment processes and interviews, as this will help me when I am being interviewed myself. I also have spent a lot of time meeting candidates and professionals, this has helped with my confidence in meeting new people and coming across in a professional manner, which will be useful when I move into a career to give across the right type of impression.
The Company
The office atmosphere is very 'work hard play hard' which is good as there is always something going on in the office, and it can be very social. Friday wrap ups are also a nice addition in making the office feel like a community.
The placements are set up well, as they have a lot of interns to train and manage. Our training process is thorough, and of the same standard as a permanent worker which is good. Interns are spread across different desks, so individual experiences can differ quite a lot,.
The company definitely invest a lot of time in training and developing you as the training sessions last for 12 weeks. In terms of getting stuck into work, you are very much thrown into the deep end from day one and expected to also learn on the job and not be afraid of picking up the phone, which isn't a bad thing at all.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
The company are very good at offering you a job opportunity for after you graduate from university which is really good for those who want to come back.
The Culture
The social side has been great between interns, and as there are a lot of us it has been easy to have a lot of other students you get on with and can go out with.
My cost of living has been great as I have been able to live at home (as my family live in London) but the cost to go out and socialize is extremely high being situated in central London.
The nightlife is great in central London and you can get around to a lot of places very easily from the office. However, as previously mentioned it is expensive so going out can be a bit of an investment.
Lots of work sports clubs etc that you are able to get involved in which are either before or after work
