The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed spending the year working with IBM. Specifically, I have loved stretching myself to learn about AI and Watson and has opened up career opportunities that never would have existed for me otherwise.
All the time - in most cases you are not treated as an 'intern', instead as an IBMer. Having gained the respect of my colleagues I was able to add real value to IBM independently.
Full support by an exceptional task / business line manager and thorough support from my EPM / Foundation manager. Both set time aside to help me plan and achieve objectives whilst continually striving to help me reach my maximum potential.
"The more you put in, the more you get out." You are encouraged to do more than just your day job, whether it be give back, shadowing or enablement. For this reason and due to continually wanting to push myself I was always busy trying to learn and improve.
Naturally, the level of responsibility increased as you earned the respect of your team. I traveled alone around Europe with full responsibility of a robot at client and partner events. I independently presented to clients about Watson.
I have learnt a wealth of business skills from expert leaders, sellers and consultants within IBM. Also, industry knowledge which I will continue to stay relevant with as I pursue a career in the technology sector.
