About You
I really enjoyed the insight week and would recommend anyone to do it. It was an amazing week and everyone was lovely. It was very interesting to be able to see Danone offices, and learn more about what Danone does. It was very enjoyable to have a project to work towards too. The hotel was amazing that we stayed in, we all felt extremely lucky to be on the insight week and it definitely convinced me to apply for a job at Danone.
Everyone was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful at Danone. From the young graduates, to the senior directors. Everyone was really great at being enthusiastic and speaking to us all on the same level, even though we were all students. I felt valued in that, when we undertook the project at the end of the week, the staff evaluating us seemed genuinely interested in the ideas we had. They were genuinely interested in what we had to say, and all staff were very generous with their time.
We received some guidance at the end of the week. It was a shame it was a little rushed, as we had run out of time. But we had a written document to take home with us, which was very useful. Unfortunately, the feedback in person was not that extensive, but this is understandable due to the time. In future weeks, it would be useful to do the project a day earlier so that more time could be spent on the feedback stage where more guidance could be given,
The skills I developed were very useful for future presentations at university and when applying to jobs. Public speaking is a very important skill, and although many do not enjoy it and it was a scary thing to do on the insight week, I found it extremely useful and I really took on board the feedback that I was given. It gave me confidence for the presentations we had to do at the Danone assessment centre too. The information on Danone was also very useful for the assessment centre, and I found it very interesting regardless, learning about Danone. As I do Psychology, this information was not directly useful to my degree, but it will no doubt be useful as I start my career at Danone in September.
The Company
The booklet we received on arrival was very useful and gave a well presented, clear layout to the week. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was also very organised and knew exactly what she was doing at all times. The only reason I have given this a 6/10 is because the order of the week could have been improved. I emailed [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] about this after, but we all weren't exactly sure what a Campus Brand Manager did, and were only told this on the last day. It may have been useful to have this outlined, even briefly, on the first day. We were also unsure whether all of us would automatically be CBMS, or whether this was to be decided after the week. Other than that the week was very well structured.
It was really great fun, as said in previous comments, all Danone staff gave off a great impression. Out of the three CBMS from Bath who attended, all three of us are working for Danone this year which shows how much we loved the company! I can't wait to start Danone as the atmosphere was very fun, not only in working hours, but they took us all out for lunch which was great fun and made sure there was always things for us to be doing. I honestly would recommend the week to anyone as it was so fun.
The project at the end of the week meant that the company did invest quite a lot of development in us as they provided us with good feedback. As said previously, this could have been expanded slightly and perhaps moved earlier on in the week so that more training could be provided. Generally the company invested a lot in us all and we all felt extremely grateful for this. I learnt a lot in the week and the skills will be developed further on the graduate scheme.
We met several graduates at different points into the graduate scheme and they all gave us great insight and we were able to ask many questions. It was nice to be able to do this with no other Danone staff in the room, so we could ask as many questions as we wanted and the staff could be completely honest. This confirmed my aspiration to work at Danone as it seemed a really great place to work, and the company really values their employees.
The insight made be understand Danone company culture a lot. This was really drilled into us from day 1. We were able to really see the type of staff they employ, and the goals they strive to achieve. Everyone was on the same page and seemed to genuinely love working there.
The week was extremely valuable as it confirmed my aspiration to have a future career at Danone. After the insight week I was determined to get onto the graduate scheme, and I work very hard at this until the assessment day in November.
Everything Else
We were reimbursed everything from this week. The week cost absolutely nothing which was just incredible considering the experience we were given! We ate out every night and it was fun to eat out as a team, and we were all reimbursed everything.
There were many opportunities for networking and meeting employees. The only reason I did not give this question 10/10 is that to improve it would have perhaps been useful to be able to speak to the graduates on more of a 1:1 basis. Perhaps at a specific networking event where we could move around and speak individually to different employees.
Within the team, there were several networking and social event opportunities. Every evening we went out for dinner, and on the last day, Becky and several other staff took us out for a lovely lunch. As said previously, a specific networking event may be a nice idea for future CBM insight weeks.
Yes we did, through speaking to graduates and from researching online and the booklets that we were given. This really appealed to me and made Danone a really attractive place to work. I can't wait to start in September after this week.
It was a great week, I couldn't recommend it more. It was perfect for me, when I was unsure whether to go into sales and marketing before the week began. I missed my dads 60th birthday celebration so that I could attend, and even now I would say it was worth it! At every event we held on campus at Bath we all recommended it. Danone really pulled off a great week.
