The Role
Whilst the work lacked as a real challenge I nonetheless met many great characters on my placement and I felt lucky to have them as my co-workers.
My supervisor and other members of my department had a lot of time for me I quickly became solidified as a member of the quality department.
All members of my department were willing to take time out to assist me with any issues I had in the workplace whether big or small.
This very much depended on time and around the time of large plant audits I would be very busy however during quiet periods I would have to find individual projects to keep me busy.
My role within the department was very much to assist everyone and therefore I had no responsibilities as such besides standard morning KPIs and some audits.
As I do not wish to pursue a career in manufacturing a large element of my placement experience was unfortunately wasted. The placement also severely lacked technical knowledge application and advanced software usage.
The Company
There was a good atmosphere of comradery and friendship within my department however there often were disputes between other departments over job roles.
There was a dedicated internship program set up that did a good job at welcoming everyone into the company. However the student reviews could be more frequent and a better student handover scheme.
My supervisor made sure that I could visit suppliers and the customer as much as he could allow however the company lacked interest in internally moving students around other Faurecia plants for experience.
Company Parties/Events
I have absolutely no intention of ruling out Faurecia as a possibility for my employment as they are a huge international corporation in a variety of different job roles and locations
The Culture
We were all good friends within work however they were all mostly local and had settled in with friends and so rarely ever met outside work.
Cheaper than London!
Newcastle is famed for its nightlife
Other than nights out with co-workers, Faurecia offered no external opportunities.
