The Role
I have enjoyed working in a big plant with lots of ongoing projects.
Very valued by my manager, not so much by other departments.
I had two managers during my first 7 months. I had plenty of guidance during this year. I didn't need much supervision after doing a task for the second time.
Fairly busy, had some very busy days and others not some much, due the lack of work for the department. Work load was fair and always had follow ups on anything I was struggling with.
There were three people on my department at first, I was given complementary tasks to help them out. After we became two people, I have been my managers right hand, so I acquired more responsibilities such as leading plant projects.
I developed great management skills and interpersonal skills, as well as how to go about projects, things to take into consideration before launching and so on. I have also learned CAD which will definetly help me on my last year, specially because I am taking Engineering design subject related.
The Company
Friendly people, generally helped when needed.
I did not receive specific training. Learning processes was on the job only.
The Culture
Great socialisation with my fellow placement colleagues.
Lichfield is expensive and there is a lack of young people living in the city, therefore socialisation was impossible. I only socialised with my placement colleagues.
Not many places to go out there was only some movement on Fridays and Saturdays. The rest of the week, all the bars/pubs were empty.
