The Role
It was a very enjoyable year as I was able to learn and develop my skills.
I feel valued and respected by my colleagues as they were friendly and welcoming.
I was given plenty of support from my supervisor who would not hesitate to give me advice if I ever needed it
I was relatively busy on most days since there are plenty of tasks to complete as well as more urgent ones appearing throughout the day.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility throughout the year as I was involved in numerous tasks that would affect production as well as other departments. I also undertook a project by myself with fairly little guidance.
The skills that I developed will definitely assist me in the future as I have learnt a range of both soft and technical skills such as communication and time management.
The Company
The general atmosphere of the office was friendly as my colleagues would small talk to each other.
Overall, the placement was well set up as I was given a handover period which allowed me to transition into my role easily. I also was able to learn many things and was involved in tasks that I was expecting.
There were not too many training sessions as I mainly learned on the job, however, there was a student induction that allowed students to meet and get a general overview.
Company Parties/Events
I feel that future employment prospects are quite appealing as there are a graduate schemes and also the VIE scheme that will allow you to work in another country.
The Culture
The social scene between colleagues and students were average but there were a few events that we were able to participate in after work such as meals.
The cost of living was fairly expensive where I worked and there was not alot to do around the town. However, it was only a short train journey away from student cities.
There was not much nightlife in the area so you would need to get the train to enjoy a night out.
There were only a few opportunities since the town was quite small.
