The Role
I have loved every minute of my internship. I feel like I have been able to develop both my skills in my role, and my skills personally. I have been part of the most supportive and friendly team, who have made coming to work everyday a joy.
The members of my team really value the work I contribute to the team. I feel as though my work contributes to the sucess of the company, which is somthing I wanted to get out of a placement year.
My managers have been extremelly helpful. I feel like I can approach them with any questions or concerns that I have and they will be there to support/ guide me.
Due to the nature of the work there are times where I am extremelly busy, and days where I don't haveso much on. However if I was ever not busy, I was able to help others with theier work.
I was given a lot more responsibility than I was expecting to get. From running meetings and workshops, to organising events, I was responsible for a number of different tasks over the year.
The training I have received, and skills I have built throughout the year are invaluable. I will go back to University being a more well rounded and confident individual. Although I have not had any lab experience, as I am doing a business placement, I feel like skills such as ;communication, organisation and public speaking, will aid me in my final year studies.
The Company
The office is usually a mix between periods of quiet working time and convosation. We usually go for team breakfast and lunch which is a great time to socialise.
The placement was extremelly well organised, and I have felt well trained and supported throughout the whole programme. As there are a lot of placement students at Pfizer and the scheme has been running for years, it is well establised.
The company have allowed me to take opportunities to develop whenever I have wanted to. I have been able to visit science fairs, attend training sessions and do volunterering work in schools over the year. If opportunities arise for personal development I am encouraged to take them and get stuck in, in all areas of the business
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
The future employment prospects are very appealing and I would love to return to work in this business
The Culture
There was a good social scene amongst the students. There was also a great social scene in my team, with regular team socials and events.
I lived in Sutton, which is in the South of London. The rent wasnt as expensive as I was expecting, and I shared a room so the rent for a 3 bed was split between 4 of us. There are a lot of free things to do in and around London. The only thing that I found to be a lot more expensive were drinks and club entries. I wouldn't let the drinks prices put you off though, you learn to accept them.
There is no nighlife in Tadworth itself, where the office is based, however it is not far from Epsom or central London. The nighltife in London is great, but can be expensive! Clapham is a great area to go, but some bars are over 21 only, so be aware
Our team often went out for team socials outside of work, not sure if this was the case for other teams, however you can get involved as little or as much as you like.
