The Role
The placement year has been thoroughly enjoyable and has provided me with invaluable experience. Having 39 other undergraduates made the placement even better as you could share experiences.
Extremely valued. I have been given so much responsibility and been given ample opportunities to use my own initiative in decision making.
Throughout the placement I've had periods without a manager but the team has always supported me and ensured we had regular catch ups to ensure everything was on track.
There wasn't a day on my placement that there wasn't something to do, which was great as it gave me a chance to get stuck into a variety of tasks while building my knowledge of the business and my role.
A lot of responsibly right from the outset and the trust people put in you to complete the tasks correctly.
Doing a placement year has given me so much experience which will be extremely valuable when applying for graduate schemes after I finish my degree. The year has not only developed me as a person but I have learnt so much about how global organisations operations and more specifically developed my HR knowledge.
The Company
Welcoming and friendly - everyone is approachable and more than happy to help.
Very well organised with a clear structure.
They've invested a lot of time and money into developing the cohort of undergraduates, always encouraging us to be the best we can.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
Very appealing, whether that's coming back on the graduate scheme or through normal contracted employment.
The Culture
Yes, having a large community of 39 undergraduates meant there was always someone to talk and everyone was keen to get involved.
The cost of living is very reasonable, and the socialising is good - there is plenty to do whether that be shopping, eating, going to bars.
Different to university nightlife, but it was still good fun - plenty of bars to go and nightlife.
There was some opportunities, but there potentially could have been more social activities with the undergraduates outside of work.
