The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my work placement, it was one of the most rewarding years.
I was valued by every member of the team.
There was constant feedback and supervision available at every step of the placement program.
It is a very busy and demanding job. It entails 110% effort at every step of the way and definitely requires a unique character to be able to succeed at the job.
Once the 12 weeks training is over you a fully functioning member of the management team so you will be tasked with opening and closing a store, managing staff and handling large amounts of cash on a daily basis. The responsibility you receive is great and unlike any other placement.
Organisation and a fantastic work ethic are just two of the skills that will benefit me in every aspect of life going forward, including degree and any job that I will work in in the future.
The Company
Great atmosphere both in store and head office. A great and welcoming place to work.
Brilliant, a full twelve month program was provided for week by week break down of duties.
The firm invests a large amount of time in the Placement students and looks to bring them back as area managers if they show enough promise.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
The graduate area manager program is the reward for students who excel on the placement scheme.
The Culture
Not really, the staff are there to work and there is a professional environment to adhere to. Little to no social aspect to the job.
Living in private accommodation it is expensive in Manchester but the wage is good so not an issue.
Lots of local pubs but I did not go out in this area.
Charity Football tournament.
