The Role
Enjoyed it immensely, loved the amount of responsibility that was given and the team that I worked in. The giveback and involvement that you can get involved in is excellent.
I felt immensely valued by my colleges and IBM
I was given a lot of support from my managers and the team that I supported. If ever I needed assistance everyone would gladly help. Best thing to do is to have a mentor to guide you through IBM.
I kept busy majority of the time and I was especially busy at the end of the quarters.
A good level of responsibility given for a placement student. Enough to feel you had ownership but good support available if required. I did feel that I was unable to progress at times in my role as I do not have authorization.
I learn't a lot of practical skills like excel and managing my workload efficiently, which will be very useful for university and my future job
The Company
The office life was very lively. The intern group in Southbank was extremely good and there was always something to do outside of your role in Foundation.
The Foundation community were efficient with the set up of the placement. There are EPMs there to guide you through your whole time at IBM.
IBM believes strongly in personal training and development. There are online learning tools and training days available. IBM makes sure you complete 40 hours of online learning and are trained enough to equip your team.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
There are graduate roles available for the interns to apply for but there are limited roles available.
The Culture
IBM southbank has a wealth of opportunities for interns to get involved. It is know that a Thursday night is when all the interns go out! There are loads of opportunities that Foundation give to enable students to get involved and share expertise with each other
Living in London is expensive but worth the cost! IBM do give extra money for living in London.
As it is London there are a wealth of clubs and bars.
Yes! You can get involved in Giveback and you can create your own schemes.
