The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Savills. I have learnt a lot during the internship and have no doubt I will use the skills I have obtained throughout my life. My team were so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable throughout my time. I would highly recommend this internship
My colleagues were very inclusive and friendly, and incorporated me in to their work every day. The work I produced received good feedback and I was positively encouraged each day. They were excellent in ensuring I felt comfortable with each task at hand, as well as being very personal; a trait I really valued.
My supervisors supported me fantastically throughout my internship with Savills; they often checked up on me to ensure I was happy with what I was doing, as well as being very personable. The tasks they set me were set out in a clear and concise manor, allowing me to produce work to the best of my ability
On the whole my workload was consistent and at the level expected for an intern. My tasks included working on aspects of the team projects, such as pulling together the strategic investment information for marketing brochures. There were occasions when I had little to do, even after asking if there was anything else I could do.
I was given a reasonable level of responsibility throughout my time with Savills, and was entrusted with various tasks that related back to the team’s overall project. I was entrusted with certain database and property platforms, which again allowed me to improve my skills in areas I had limited experience in.
The lessons I have learnt and skills I have obtained will be invaluable to me for later life. Considering it’s a career path I want to pursue, I have been extremely happy and grateful for what I have learnt. It’s been useful to put aspects I have studied in to practice, as well as learn things I’m sure I will be able to relate to my studies next year.
The Company
The general atmosphere in my office was a fantastic balance between work and enjoyment. The team clearly work extremely hard, and it was something I admired a lot. That said, they clearly knew how to have a good time and the overall environment within my team was positive and enthusiastic.
Overall the placement was very well run and well structured. Something I really appreciated was the schedule that we were given at the start of our placement. This allowed me to have a good idea of how busy I would be each week. The departmental talks were also very insightful. The only criticism would be that there was no meeting on the final day of the placement.
I felt very valued by Savills, and often that they were planning for the future. They gave us lots of advice on the next process and the best way to obtain a place on the Graduates Scheme. I also received useful help on how to improve my CV, which I have no doubt will be extremely useful in the near future.
The future employments prospects are extremely appealing to me, and I am very determined to acquire a place on the Graduates Scheme. The work ethic as well as the sociability of the firm are something I strive towards, and would love to be a part of. My time here has only further inspired me to obtain a place with Savills.
The Culture
All of the interns got along very well, and we socialised regularly. Most days we would go for lunch together, and it was interesting to hear about the other teams that they were in and what they were doing. We also had social events put on by HR with other graduates, which was always good fun!
The cost of living was reasonable high, but that is to be expected giving its location.
The nightlife was good however typically priced for the location
There were opportunities to get involved with things, for example sporting teams. However I feel this aspect can be pushed more, as interns will feel more comfortable to get involved if the opportunity is pushed towards them.
