The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my year long placement. During this I have had the opportunity to develop all of my personal skills, through various events and opportunities. I have had the ability to network with people, who have been able to share their knowledge with me.
At IBM, you are given real, and important responsibilities from day 1, these responsibilities are key to the running of the business, and trough this, you get first hand experience of the working world. Colleagues also understand you want to develop your skills and are always on hand to advise, or even offer you more opportunities to develop these skills. There is a great social environment, especially in the foundation units.
My managers have supported me from day 1. If it was an issue I was facing, or something I wanted to get involved in, my managers were always there to help and advise.
I was busy, as these roles in IBM are critical roles to the business, but I had great flexibility too. I ensured all my tasks were complete each day, but also ensured I took part in other opportunities too. For example, I participated in Career Fairs, Assessment Centers, and other recruitment activities. The flexibility in these roles, and the great understanding of managers, allows you to do this
I was given critical tasks from the start. As an intern you cannot expect to run the show, but at IBM, your role is seen as an essential cog in the business. You can deal with clients or perform crucial business activities. Either way, each role is essential to the running of IBM.
I have developed all kinds of professional skills, including, presentation skills, client engagement skills, project management and leadership.
The Company
There is a very friendly atmosphere in the office. People are always there to help you when required. The structure of IBM Foundation creates a sociable atmosphere, with unit socials being held across the year!
From day 1 it is clear where you sit within the organisation, and your responsibilities. It is clear the other opportunities available to you such as career fairs.
IBM provided a range of opportunities for me to develop my skills, I was able to project manage, and lead teams.

Working from home
Very appealing. There is a great range of graduate roles at IBM, and performing a placement here can only help you more getting one of these roles.
The Culture
Yes. The unit would meet up on regular occasions where we participated in activities outside the work place.
