About You
I enjoyed the insight scheme a great amount. All the talks, activities, trips and meals we had and took part in were very enjoyable. The only thing I did not enjoy so much was that nearly every lunch was a stood-up networking lunch, which whilst very useful and fun for the most part, was occasionally something that was hard when you would just prefer 5 minutes to eat and relax slightly,
I felt highly valued throughout my time at the firm. The graduate recruitment team put a huge amount of effort into looking after us very well, and Becky especially was very helpful in dealing with any problems that cropped up. All the staff I met on the scheme, from the trainees to associates and parters seemed keen to talk to us and answer any concerns we had.
I received a lot. Again Becky and the rest of the grad recruitment team were very supportive throughout. The best guidance we received was from the lawyers at the firm who were always very happy to give us an idea of how to succeed at the firm and how to make a good lawyer. I feel like the firm is invested in support talent and guiding it in an effective manner.
Most of the skills developed and information received will be very helpful when it comes to studying and practicing commercial law when I graduate, as most of them were centred around the legal profession. However they will as such be of limited use for my current studies in Philosophy and Theology. The talk we received on personal impact will be especially helpful in areas outside law however.
The Company
Very well structured, each day had a set programme of talks activities and lunches that we were given far in advance. These always ran very smoothly and I never felt like any time was wasted or that people were at a loose end. The scheme was packed and intense but well structured and and efficient.
The atmosphere on the scheme was very good. Everyone on the scheme was keen to talk to each other, and everyone was very friendly. Everyone that we met from the firm was the same-very approachable and keen to provide any support and guidance that we asked for. It was also fairly relaxed, there was no fear of asking stupid questions or feeling out of place.
A lot-we were given a workshop on personal impact that was actually very helpful, and given talks from graduate recruitment on how to make the best application possible.
A good extent. We had a single day sat in practice areas being given work by our supervisors. While it was a fairly short period of time it did give me a sense of what it would be like to work in the department I was sat in. The trainees that we spoke to also gave as a very good idea of what it was like to work for the firm.
A large amount, again everyone we spoke to in the firm gave us a good insight into the company culture that felt honest and not white-washed. They had no reservations about highlighting the less good bits of it, as well as emphasising the good parts.
Very valuable, all the presentations we were given gave us a useful insight into commercial law.
Everything Else
We were paid very adequately.
Yes plenty, almost too many!
Very very good. Networking lunches happened almost every day, and we had a special breakfast with out trainees buddies at the breakfast club. We also had an 'immersive theatre' show in waterloo which was great.
Not a huge amount, there wasn't really any presentation made on it. What I did find out was through talking to people in the firm who play sports etc.
Yes, for sure.
