About You
Well rounded placement with good balance of talks, activities, trips and socials to give a full view into life at the firm
Every person, from trainee to partner, I came across made me feel welcome - graduate recruitment go above and beyond in making you feel a part of the firm
Fully supported in relation to exercises and case studies, as well as in the department on Friday with an allocated supervisor and a trainee buddy for the placement and after
Gained a lot of insider knowledge about the firm which assists in making future applications to the firm and also in understanding the work of an international commercial law firm generally
The Company
Very well structured - timetable given out prior to placement with full details of what is going on each day, with start and finish times and descriptions of each presentation
Friendly, open atmosphere amongst the group with all members willing to talk to everyone else and open up to make friends - had a whatsapp group to communicate between us and stay in contact
Organised a personal impact session to improve confidence and verbal communication at end of week, as well as numerous question sessions for us to gain the knowledge we wanted
Held work shadowing on the last say which allowed for us to experience day-to-day life at the firm - can be temperamental depending on department, but certainly worthwhile in giving an insight into life at the firm
Numerous social events, including breakfasts and lunches, with lawyers of all levels gave a great insight into the people and culture at the firm and the prevailing ethos
Very valuable - lots of information relating to each practice area meant a well-rounded view was gained to allow for a better informed decision when it comes to choosing seats in a training contract
Everything Else
Numerous networking events each day of the week meant there was plenty of opportunity to network with a full range of lawyers from different practice areas and of different levels, and also even from other offices
Fantastic - gave enough time to allow for full conversations and good environments that facilitated networking. The social events were well thought out and new experiences, such as immersive theatre, which I was particularly impressed by
Spoke to trainees over lunch about wider opportunities in the firm to get involved in clubs and social events, as well as their work/life balance
Yes - thoroughly enjoyed the week - plenty of networking opportunities and exposure to the firm at its fullest, through its lawyers and presentations from each practice area. The chance to visit an office abroad is unique and a particular highlight of the scheme
