The Role
The placement at Accenture was really good. I was able to work with a variety of technologies and improve my software engineering skills vastly. They have so many clients within so many different industries that there is such a variety in the type of work you could be doing.
My colleagues at Accenture were very welcoming. They were always on hand to help when needed and provided continuous support.
The managers were very supportive and always worked with me in a way which brought my best abilities out. They were always willing to listen and take my views into consideration.
I was pretty busy on a day to day basis. It all depends on the project and the nature of work involved. As I was involved in software engineering projects, software bugs were continuously appearing, meaning I always had to be on hand to fix any issues in the code.
The level of responsibility I was given was the same as any other graduate level employee. I was treated as any other Accenture employee would be.
The skills learnt are invaluable and will be extremely useful in my degree studies and beyond. As well as technical skills, communication, teamworking, presentation and project management skills were developed and this would greatly assist me in any job I decide to take later in my career.
The Company
It depends on the project you are on. Luckily I was on a project which had great, energetic, enthusiastic people in and the atmosphere was always a great one to be in. I always felt welcomed by everyone and everyone got along with each other.
The scheme was set up well, training was provided at the beginning of the placement year to give students a chance to gain some insight into the type of work they may be entering. At the end of the placement, HR contact you for feedback on the placement, which i think is vital in ensuring the scheme is always improved to give the best for students.
There was a large variety of training and development opportunities. A lot of the time it is up to you to apply for training but if approved by senior team members, the company is happy to invest in training opportunities for you. They strongly encourage you to get involved in training and a lot of the training takes place abroad, which is a nice as opposed to training in the same office as you work in.

The Culture
The social scene was great. Every few weeks we had nights out and done a variety of things together, which helped the team bond more and welcome any new members into the team.
Quite expensive as I was based in London.
Worked in London so the nightlife was great.
Accenture give you the chance to get involved in opportunities outside of work. They allow you three charity days a year in which you can volunteer to work for charities of your choice.
