The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at IBM. This year has given me the opportunity to develop all of my competencies, through various schemes that IBM offer to gaining more responsibility within my role. I have had the privilege to network with people, who have been able to share their knowledge with me and provide guidance when needed.
Generally I felt valued by my colleagues, they were extremely supportive and offered advice on how to excel in my role.
My managers have given me support throughout my placement.
My experience of working at IBM shows that you are given real responsibility from the beginning. IBM treat you like a valued employee and expect you to make the most out of every opportunity. Your productivity depends on what you make out of the placement.
Your productivity and responsibility depends on what you make out of the placement.
The skills I have developed are invaluable to me, and they will definitely assist me in my degree studies and beyond. I highly recommend undertaking a year in industry as you will be able to gain real insight into where you want to go in your career and how to get there.
The Company
The atmosphere was generally upbeat and positive. Again, it depends on what you make out of it!
My placement was organized very well. From the induction to my regular reviews with my IBM placement tutor (EPM), I felt in control of my year and was grateful for the support that the team offered me.
IBM's foundation team offer placement students various opportunities and schemes to develop and train it's employee's skills. In my opinion, this is how you can really develop as an intern outside of your main role!

The future prospects within IBM are highly appealing. The graduate scheme offers a range of roles in different sectors to chose from. At IBM you can almost tailor your career to your skills and competencies.
The Culture
The social life amongst fellow placement students and graduates is great. There are usually events held on a regular basis for employees to enjoy.
The cost of living is high in London, but there is no place like London in terms of socializing.
Nightlife is great, however it is still expensive.
