About You
I really enjoyed the vacation scheme. The social events were fun and the work was interesting. My supervisor would seek to give me useful and constructive feedback and the department that I was in was really friendly.
Everyone would take the time to chat to me and answer any questions that I had. People were interested in my experiences and what I thought of the firm. I never felt side lined or ignored.
My trainee buddy was always available to chat to me about all elements of the firm. My supervisor would also always try to answer my questions fully and would make sure that I had sufficient work to get on with. The trainees in my department also set me work and provided feedback on that which has really developed my understanding of what is expected from a trainee.
Studying Law at University is very different to working at a commercial law firm and requires a different skill set. However my experiences during my vacation scheme will help me with my LPC and a career in law.
The Company
Very well structured. There was the right balance between social events, time with my supervisor and presentations. Nothing ever felt forced.
Very friendly and welcoming. I never felt in competition with my fellow vac schemers which made a huge difference to my experience. There was much more of an emphasis upon learning and development.
I had a supervisor who gave me feedback and advice on my work and how you should approach legal tasks.
Very much. I was treated as a trainee rather than as a vac scheme student. I therefore experienced the same tasks, routine and treatment which gave me real in depth understanding.
I got a real sense of the friendly and welcoming culture of the firm
