The Role
For the most part, all of the people within my team accepted me as one of their own. At times, it was evident that our judgement was taken less seriously due to our temporary position in the company.
The support required was always received.
Always had something to do, there was never a time when I did not have a project or BAU work to complete.
A lot of very useful skills were received, including communication training, office politics, time management, learning how to code VBA, etc. which can all be applied to my degree and the working life after.
The Company
Casual yet still professional. Most people are extremely friendly and welcoming in the team and the department.
Except for a couple of minor issues, the placement as a whole was extremely well organised within the department and the team itself.
Two weeks of introductions were organised when we first arrived, including a large amount of online compliance learning presentations and formal presentations given from various employees working in the different departments at Discovery Park, Sandwich. An oral communications workshop was also managed by one of the colleagues, providing 12 learning and presenting sessions based on a variety of different topics. A variety of different workshops are also offered, including attaining the Six Sigma Yellow Belt qualification and Project Management courses, aiding in current and future work.

Depending on personal interests, a large amount of the jobs offered could be extremely interesting. The grad schemes offered, allow for a variety of departments within marketing and sales to be explored.
The Culture
There were 17 placement students at Sandwich, allowing for a good mix and choice of individuals to get to know. Colleagues were similarly invited to many social occasions as the placement students, particularily in the office based roles got along well with their team members.
Everything was extremely inexpensive, a lot of ammenities were likewise available with a large shopping center only 15 minutes away. Cinema and other leisurely activities were also available to much lower prices than in the city.
More of a bar scene, depending on what the individual enjoys this could be entertaining. London is only an hour away by train, so if the city nightlife is desired, this can also be arranged.
Train links are very good to London and Canterbury, especially from Ramsgate. Weekend activities are always available with little food or music festivals around the area.
