About You
Very much so! The opportunities to engage with the firm's employees were numerous, and I really got a sense of what the firm did, and what its values were. More importantly, there was a good balance between fun activities and law seminars.
The firm and the HR team were very welcoming. For example, they provided us personalised tupperware and an engraved Oyster holder. The thought which went into this was clear to all.
We were hardly ever left alone, and there was always someone on hand to help with any questions which we had. I always felt that there was someone available to help with whatever issues I was having.
The talks which we had across the firm's different practice areas were very helpful because they provided deep insight into what commercial law firms did, and how law firms were set up. We also had time to develop personal skills, such as a Personal Impact session which focused on public speaking, which would be very helpful for interviews, as well as those law students who choose to go into advocacy.
The Company
Incredibly well-structured. We had a schedule of the programme sent out to us a few weeks before the programme, and it was followed to a tee by the organisers of the scheme.
Everyone on the scheme was friendly, including the other interns. I felt at ease, and it was really easy to make friends with the others. The Grad Recruitment team made it clear to us on the first day that there were enough places available for everyone, so we never felt like we were complaining.
The firm hired a public speaking coach who helped us improve our speaking skills. We also had case studies to improve our commercial fluency.
The talks across the different practice areas as well as the Q&A session with the trainees were very helpful in pinging a vivid picture.
By speaking with numerous employees and listening to (the London Managing Partner) David Bickerton's talk, I had a clear idea of what Clifford Chance's values were.
The most useful content was the confidential Q&A which allowed me ask questions that might have been bothering me about a career in commercial law.
Everything Else
There was a networking opportunity during lunch on every day of the scheme.
There was a social event on every day of the scheme and the group of interns got a good chance to know each other, as well as meet other lawyers in the firm.
There was a talk on the firm's Pro-Bono culture which elaborated on voluntary activities the firm udnertakes.
Most definitely. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it useful and productive.
