About You
I really enjoyed the Academy Programme. Everyone involved has gone to huge amounts of effort to ensure we had fun. The socials were creative and really good fun and I was given lots of work to do in the office, I would have happily continued working all here all summer.
I felt very valued, I was given work to do that was actually needed and that helped my supervisors on their matters. Th etraibess weere also really welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we were included in teh firm, for example by inviting us to football training and the summer party.
I met with my superviors every morning and we discussd and went through the work I had done. My traininee buddy offered me a lot of support and spent a lot of time going through things and explaing exciting cases they were currently working on. Everyone was very approachable and I always felt that I could ask for help.
The first week of the programme especailly helped develop my skills far beyond my degree studies. I got a real insight into how business works and how law firms are run. These are skills taht will be invcredibly valuable wherever I end up doing my training contract and was an experince I have not had anywhere else.
The Company
The first week was incredibly well structure- we had a tight timetable with loads of activities. During the internship aspect teh work I was set was less structured, which is understandable as it depended on what needed doing. I still had scehduled meetings with my supervisors ste. We also had lots of good socials.
Especially during the first week there was a real atmosphere of excitement about the programme and the activities we were planned. The second two weeks had a relaxed feel. The office and everyone here was very welcoming and made a real effort to get all of us involved in the office, I was never made to feel like I was just here temporarily or that I was an annoyance.
The amount of time and money the firm invested in our personal development was second to none. Particullary in the first week, the talks we had and activities we did were of such high quality and I don't think you would have got the same experiemnces at other firm. Further, the partners took so much time off to ensure we were having the best possible experience.
It did in the sense that I i got to do real work as if I had been a trainee. The open plan offices were also really good for getting a sense of the type of work that goes on in the office. However, like any firm you don't truly undertsnad what the job entails because you are not expcted to work late .
Very helpful. I started the week not fully knowing what I wanted to do when I graduated and finsished the week knowing that I want to be a commercial solicitor and in what kind of firm. We also had a lot of sector talks which were really useful in determing what areas of law I would like experince in.
Everything Else
Yes, we were invited to come along to football traing as the office was preparing for the CMS world cup in Amsterdam. I was also attended meetings giving by the charities which memebers of the office volunteer for. Memebers of the office had also just completed a triathalon.
Yes definitely. I think that it is the most innovative vacation scheme on offer at the moment. I had an incredible time and learnt so much- I was really sad to leave. In terms of personal development and investment in you this scheme was amazing. Also the socials were great fun.
