About You
The employees were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and always willing to stop and chat. I also got a chance to experience two departments with good quality of work in each. There was also a good balance of work in the day and social activities in the evening.
Everyone was very welcoming and seemed eager to learn who I was. Throughout my time at Simmons, I was given work of increasing importance and complexity as I proved I was capable to delivering what they wanted.
I was paired with a two trainee buddies (one for each week) and two supervisors (one for each week). All four of them were incredibly helpful and made sure I had enough to do and that I knew what I was doing.
I won't help my degree because I don't study law. It will help in an office environment and learning how to talk and interact with senior members of staff.
The Company
Very well structured, we were given a detailed timetable from the outset and all sessions were entered into our calendar on outlook.
Very friendly and welcoming, all of the other placement candidates were very friendly too.
They provided a good salary and we had a lot of orientation type sessions.
It was incredibly helpful as this basically mimicked a training contract.
We were treated as a normal member off staff, albiet a new one who didn't know how the lifts worked. Throughout Simmons appeared to be an incredibly friendly and supportive place to work.
Completely reinforced the direction I was heading in anyway.

There were two evening social events a week and at least three networking events a week, in addition to chatting to people in your department throughout the course of the day. There was definitely no shortage of networking opportunities!
Plenty were informal and were evening events (Bounce, Chocolate making, etc.) but there was an orgnaised speed networking session, networking breakfast with partners and each week started out with us having breakfast with our new trainee.
Yes, there are plenty of fund raising opportunites, sports teams, pro bono work and diversity groups.
Yes, it was an incredibly well organised two weeks where all of the employees were incredibly friendly and open to having a frank conversation about the firm/job/legal sector. The 15 other vac scheme candidates were also very friendly and we got along very well.
