Vacation Scheme Review

I really loved the vacation scheme. It was a great opportunity to learn and meet new people. Especially from a none law background, I found it was very insightful and provided me with really critical information for considering taking my career forward. The people at the firm and on the scheme were all lovely and this made it particularly enjoyable. I felt very well looked after, and my only minor fault would be that the scheme was very full on socialising which made it hard to enjoy the non-social sides sometimes.

I felt valued, although this did vary slightly depending on the work I was doing. The firm themselves as a whole made me feel very valued and like they were so glad that we could be there to learn and develop etc. However in my team sometimes I felt a little bit like a burden as one of my supervisors was very busy. This was okay as I tried my best to get work from other people. Some of the work I did was very proper, which I felt was genuinely making a difference, however some other stuff was slightly less so. But still it was very interesting for me, even if perhaps it wasn't adding value to the work the team was doing.

The support throughout the whole process from starting the application to leaving has been insane. We have all been so well looked after and I never felt like I was left wanting. One of the best things about the scheme in my opinion.

In terms of my degree the skills were not the most helpful as I do not study a law related subject. However in terms of choosing a job that is right for me the scheme was invaluable. I was able to learn not only about the firm but also about the career. I feel I learnt skills that will be valuable if I end up working in the firm, or a similar one, in the long run.

Extremely well structured. Everything was looked after very impressively. There was never a moment where something was planned, and the scheme all flowed seamlessly together.

The atmosphere was generally great with wonderful and kind people who were always willing to help. My only comment would be that sometimes it felt quite pressured as if you were constantly being assessed. It was hard to really let go and relax, and that was quite palpable amongst all the vac schemers in my opinion.

The firm put so much effort into ensuring that we were learning as much as was physically possible in just two short weeks! There was constant improvement both within the work we were doing in our seats, but also from talks from different departments and even stage coaches, and health advisers.

Whilst I did gain some idea of the type of work I was supposed to be doing, I couldn't quite say what it would be like to work there as really the time in the office was somewhat limited. However the talks etc. provided great insights nonetheless, even if this was time lost in the office.

I really felt I got a feel for the company, which was friendly, welcoming, and hardworking.

Very helpful. I felt I was able to learn a lot about the firm specifically and what it would be like to work in the law in general.

Almost every event was a networking opportunity so there was no shortage of that!

The events themselves were very well organised in general. Sometimes however I felt they were slightly forced, as often at the end of the day for example it was difficult to talk to a bunch of new people about their thoughts on their career.

To an extent yes, however as personally I am not very sporty and this is what came up the most there wasn't loads that grabbed my attention.

Yes. It was a great experience and I learnt so much, and had a fun time in general.
