The Role
I have really enjoyed my year at Computacenter. The Job role provided me with a great opportunity to develop my skill set, work with senior management, & obtain genuine responsibilities.
From day one i felt like part of my team and the wider Computacenter family. The more i demonstrated my capabilities the more i was trusted to handle and the more valued i became.
There has always been someone that i can turn to at Computacenter for support and guidance whether it be my line manager, colleagues, or senior management.
The nature of the job role means that there is a constant changing demand day by day. Some days i found that there were not enough hours in the day, other times i'd be stuck looking for things to help with. Ultimately this has shown me the nature of the job role itself and improved my organisation.
Computacenter provided me with a fantastic opportunity to get involved. I have found from my own experience that if you drive to take on more and demonstrate that you are capable of doing so there is no reason you wont be allowed to take on additional responsibility.
Being my first 'proper' job there was so much i needed to learn before even contemplating doing the job role. Computacenter has taught me more skills than i can possibly list, but i know i will implement the skills and lessons that i have learnt throughout my year for the rest of my life both in and out of work.
The Company
Ultimately Computacenter has a real family feel to it as a whole and this is reflected at Computacenter's Headquarters. Everyone is happy to help out with queries or give you some of their time. The Computacenter Placement has allowed me to see multiple organisations cultures and Computacenter's did not disappoint.
Some work still needs to be put in on the organisation front of the placement. Once released out to our wider teams greater visibility is needed to ensure no one falls behind and everyone is progressing. However showing the right attitude and asking for support where needed will ensure you get the most out of the year.
I was given the opportunity to go on training courses, from my experience if you can present a business case for you to attend a training course this will be supported despite only being on a temporary placement.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Computacenter has a range of Graduate and Associate programs that i am definitely considering. The programs would be even more appealing with slightly greater sponsorship for returning Industrial Placement Students.
The Culture
Placements as a whole got on really well and regularly socialised as a group, this was more down to us organising things than company organised events. However i have also had the opportunity to socialise within my division and expand my network.
My travel Cost was very high in to London and i would have appreciated it if the Company had have subsidised this. Socialising in London is obviously expensive at work events this is normally all paid for. If it wasn't for living at home I would have struggled.
London Nightlife.
Few work events to network and socialise.
