The Role
I had a fantastic internship at IBM working on a small joint venture.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. They were all extremely welcoming and helped me settle in with ease. They helped me understand all of the financial terminology as soon as i started so i didn't feel out of my depth. I now feel 10x more confident than I did when i first started.
They supported me throughout the entire year and always encouraged me to shadow other teams and other areas within IBM. They really supported my personal development in wanting to get more experience in the sales sector.
I was always busy throughout my placement year. If i ever felt like the work load wasn't enough, they'd soon offer me extra opportunities to get involved with.
I had a lot of responsibility throughout my placement working to tight deadlines especially during month-end when I was in control of my own forecasting for the account making sure we get the best GP for the month/quarter as possible.
I think i will go back to uni with a lot more motivation after my placement year. I would have definitely improved my routine and working to deadlines more efficiently
The Company
Great atmosphere for an account that is soon to be exiting !
The Foundation team were really well organised and provided all the students with lots of support during the course of the year including placement journals and supporting websites
I had several mentors assigned to me including my excel mentor, graduate mentor and assigned 'buddy'. All of which were available whenever i needed them and helped my personal development throughout the year - helping me get in touch with more contacts and supporting me in the right direction
Financial Bonus
Working from home
Really appealing - i would love to be able to come back!
The Culture
Great social scene in South Bank.
I lived at home.
