About You
Overall, I had a great time at Taylor Wessing. Although I wish I had a chance to get stuck in more cases and 'get my hands dirty' with more work in my departments, I still had a very good insight into the firm's business model and culture. Observing other few earners at work was also incredibly valuable.
I felt that the firm created a really welcoming atmosphere and appreciated we decided to come to Taylor a Wessing for a vacation scheme. At the same time, people in the departments we sat in were incredibly busy and did not always have time to make us feel valued.
Not everyone had enough time to give me guidance and support. However, several people really talked me through tasks and explained various cases I was involved in. This made a tremendous difference to my learning experience.
I was able to experience the day-to-day reality of life in an international law firm which is incredibly valuable for my future career.
The Company
The vacation scheme was very well structured and every event had its place in the programme, giving us better insight into Taylor Wessing.
Everyone I met, from trainees to partners to office managers, was very friendly and ready to answer any questions I had about Taylor Wessing! Fantastic environment.
I would have appreciated more opportunities to work on interesting tasks. I reckon 2 weeks are too short for anyone to see whether we are really capable of handling challenging tasks, hence, most work tasks I received were very simple and of administrative nature. The main focus was on networking and getting a feel for the firm.
Although I was not able to contribute all that much, I could still observe other people at work which was really valuable. Sharing a room with senior associates and partners helped me see what different roles in the firm entail and how work is distributed among the firm's employees.
It was very clear what Taylor Wessing is like on a day-to-day basis and how its employees treat each other. The firm consciously builds its City brand as 'the friendly one' and it was obvious that these are not just empty words.
It was very helpful. Seeing other lawyers at work and being able to get involved in some of the cases myself helped me test whether this career really is for me.
Everything Else
There were many opportunities and they were all very well organized. I was really able to meet a broad range of employees at various stages of their career progression.
They were all very friendly and well structured, I appreciated them as they were a unique opportunity for us to gain a wholesome insight into the firm.
I definitely would!
