The Role
The work was really good and really enjoyable. We also had a lot of opportunity to really work on what we wanted and work on what we thought would be useful and help national grid.
We were very valued. Everyone seemed really keen to encourage us and they were optimistic and having fresh eyes look at their system.
We were given lots of help and feedback. We had lots of meetings with our head of departements and we could ask them for feedback and help with anything. We were also asigned a team leader for our group who over saw our project.
I had lots of work to do most of the time but occasionally we were stuck waiting for a new peice of software.
We were given a lot of responsibility and we had total control of our project and where we wanted to go with it. It was very clear from the beginning that National Grid wanted us to be independant and make the decisions ourselves.
The placement was very useful and we learned a lot of skills. Skills including report writing presenting organisation and team work we will be very useful in the future
The Company
It was a brillant Job and everyone on the placement seemed happy with the work they were doing.
The placement was very well organised. The only problem we had was as stated before missing software and time spent waiting for that.
We had regular personal development meetings and we along with our manager, set ourselves targets for the placement and met reggularly to discuss them
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Very high there a lots of jobs and many opportunities in lots of different departements.
The Culture
people are really friendly on the placement and off. I met a lot of people in my accomodation who worked for national grid too and we had a lot of fun and good nights out
The cost of living was quite high but the salary easily covered it and we had saved money too.
Only a few clubs but everyone in the area was really friendly and nights out were always good fun .
thankfully there were loads of things to do and see in the local area.
