About You
The scheme was incredibly insightful and very well-organised. If you're interested in finding out more about commercial law, and the firm Clifford Chance, I would definitely recommend this scheme.
Graduate Recruitment were really committed to ensuring that we all felt valued during the scheme. They were an easy point of contact if you ever had any problems. My two supervisors were also extremely dedicated to enabling me to be challenged during the scheme. They gave me difficult work and very extensive feedback. One of my supervisors didn't set me work himself because he was busy, but this was the only problem I had.
Everything was well explained to me. I felt like I could do the work I was set. It did require me to ask careful questions, and note things down, but I think this is good practice.
I gained a real insight into how things work at a big firm. My exposure to the work was also very good, the only thing I would say is that experience does vary between departments and as you grow more confident in the scheme. I got harder work that pushed me more in my second week.
The Company
Really well structured.
The scheme was very small and this made the atmosphere friendly. There was no sense of competition. Everyone got along well, and the socials helped us to bond.
Really well - see my previous comments.
Very good - we had Q and A sessions with partners, associates and trainees.
The weekend away was a great chance to relax with people from the firm. Also, the buddy system enabled me to have one on one lunches.
The only thing I would say is that because the scheme is so fun and exciting, I worried whether I was getting an idealised view of life at the firm. Obviously this is not an easy problem to solve, but it was something I had to bear in mind.
Everything Else
I was paid £400 a week. I got free breakfast almost every day, free lunch every day and at least 4 free dinners.
Yes lots - see my other comments.
We had a pro bono workshop which was good. I also talked to associates about the sky trip. I was even able to go to the summer party.
Definitely.
